MEET Kendal

Dubbed "Mr. Public Safety" by Black Enterprise

Kendal S. Wade is a caring husband, friend, and public servant with a dynamic and outgoing personality who not only exemplifies the meaning of servitude and compassion, but possesses the necessary tenacity to bring his life’s work of helping others into fruition.

​A native Washingtonian, Kendal was raised and educated in Washington, D.C. until 2001, when he relocated to Prince George’s County, Maryland and attended Largo High School.

Early in life, Kendal felt a natural inclination to serve others, and as a result, became a community activist, oftentimes going without to help others who were in need. At the age of seven, he began studying Taekwondo which changed his outlook on discipline and kept him out of trouble. Later earning a first degree black belt in Taekwondo, he was able to ascertain and develop his leadership skills in 2000 when he became the Captain of the DC Junior Olympic Taekwondo team.

As a humanitarian, he enjoys giving back to the community by leading several initiatives, some of which include, but are not limited to, providing food and other assorted items to the homeless, protecting the general welfare of the elderly, engaging the youth through mentorship, and encouraging the masses by serving as a motivational speaker. Kendal prides himself in his proactive and progressive approach of meeting people at their needs.

As a community activist, Kendal is passionate about addressing and finding resolutions for professional, socio-economical, educational, cultural, and political issues affecting our community with emphasis on developing strategies and programs to end domestic violence. Kendal was selected by Black Enterprise magazine as one of the top 100 modern men who are making a mark on the world in 2016. Black enterprise recognized Kendal's global vision when it comes to Public Safety so much so they even dubbed him as "Mr. Public Safety".

Kendal's service to the public is also carried out in his current position as the Chairman of the Young Democrats of Maryland Public Safety Caucus and his current career as a sworn Maryland Law Enforcement Officer, where he tirelessly strives to bridge the gap between public safety and the community.

He is also a Minister in training at Fort Foote Baptist Church in Fort Washington, Maryland and serves as the senior chaplain for two public safety agencies in Prince George's County Maryland. Kendal considers himself to be a student of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., he has demonstrated the ability to encourage the masses through love, hope, and peace.

Member: People For Change Coalition, Prince George's County Chapter of the NAACP, Hiram Takoma Lodge #10 of the Grand Lodge of DC Free and Accepted Masons, International Conference of Police Chaplains, Seat Pleasant Volunteer Fire Company #8, Progressive Maryland, Magic Johnson Bridgescape of Maryland (Board of Directors), the Community Public Awareness Council (C-PAC), and the DC Taekwondo Union.

Kendal resides in Prince George’s County, Maryland and is in the process of obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership at Johns Hopkins University, Division of Public Safety Leadership. In addition to spending time cooking for his family and friends, in his downtime, he enjoys an occasional game of tennis as well as attending to his horse; a thoroughbred named Booker T.
